Despite the fact that God makes everything new, there is one thing that remains unchanged – His desire to see our loyal hearts eager to know Him more and more. Job 22:24 “And assign your nuggets to the dust, your gold of Ophir to the rocks in the ravines, then the Almighty will be your gold, the choicest silver for you”. People of any country and nation dream of gold and silver. They work all day long to provide for their well-being. Some people are willing to break the law, betray, or even kill someone for money. But the truth is that there is no more treasure under the heaven than the Lord. When we make Him our “gold and the choicest silver” we get the prospects of wonderful blessings, that we have not even dreamed of. It is an eternal treasure that cannot be spent or lost. If we spend as much time and efforts seeking the Lord as we used to spend seeking material wealth, then we will get a priceless treasure. This will give us more real and exciting blessings than we can imagine.
According to the above mentioned statement, the call of the first month of 2012 – to make God our main goal and great desire for Whom we thirst. We should seek Him with the same strength, zeal, desire and diligence with which, generally, we seek wealth. 2 Peter 3:10-12 “But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed. Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn!”
On the day of the Lord will come all material things that we have, all our property will be burned up and dissolved. Therefore we should not waste our life, whose destiny is eternity, on material wealth. We lie to ourselves, spending most of our time and efforts earning earthly riches. When we spend our life searching for comfortable existence, in the end we get spiritual emptiness or something very minor. But, if we make efforts to find God – then we gain not only temporary satisfaction, but also the eternal riches. When we grow closer to God, He fills us with peace and calmness, and in addition, gives us material and spiritual well-being. Job 22:21 “Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you.” This is confirmed by Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, where He calls followers of Him to seek first His Kingdom, and not to worry about what to eat, drink or wear – “… all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33.
If we want to get closer to God, we cannot avoid the study of His Word. It is in our best interest to read the Bible and listen to sermons every day. Thank God today there are many resources to help us to do it: CDs, audio books, players, notebooks, mobile phones etc. We can see what a responsible attitude toward the Word of God Job had: “I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread.” Job 23:12. The Word of God was of the highest priority for him. It helped him not to lose faith and not to fall into a state of murmuring during his ordeal. Eventually he got twice as much as he had had before.
Let’s read the words of one of the great prophets: “When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, LORD God Almighty.” Jeremiah 15:16.
Though Jeremiah spoke on behalf of God, people did not believe him. They harassed, abused and detained him in prison, but the Word of God gave his heart a true joy. God’s mark, God’s seal and God’s sign come only through immersion in the Word. Let’s make Him our daily food. We should not only read the Word, but think it over, learn and share it with each other. Fill your spiritual person with the power of the uncompromising God, absorb Him and become a single entity with Him. If we want to see God’s Hand in our circumstances, we should love the Word and live by It. Believe that it will help you to win in any situation. If our spirit is filled with the Word, we will attract people, because they will see that we are the bearers of God’s treasure.
To make the Lord our treasure means to escape from temptations and sins. When we live in spiritual purity and in the fear of God, all our cases come into proper order.
Job 22:23: “If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored: If you remove wickedness far from your tent”.
The primacy of God in our lives helps us to remove all iniquities, to walk in awe under the Heavens and to clear our way from all sorts of obstacles.
Job 22:27: “You will pray to him, and he will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows”.
Today is the ministry of the Covenant. We make a commitment to do something for God, in response to His mercy, grace and favor. First of all God expects from us a sincere and true respect. He wants us to love Him with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength. If we approach Him with such an attitude of heart, then, of course, He will hear us, and we will be able to fulfill our vows, and God His vows towards us.
Job 22:28: “What you decide on will be done, and light will shine on your ways”.
If we are close to God and live in His presence then all of our goals will be fulfilled! The light of God will accompany and even precede us, because we set Him as our priority.
Job 22:29-30 “When people are brought low and you say, ‘Lift them up!’ then he will save the downcast. He will deliver even one who is not innocent, who will be delivered through the cleanness of your hands”. We are not the only ones who will be blessed by God! Through our words and our ministry people will get the opportunity to experience new life. This is because God always blesses us in order that we may be a blessing to others. If we can pay the price of a close and trusting relationship with God, we will be able to conduct a dialogue with God, like Abraham, during his intercession for Sodom and Gomorrah. We will have a reputation before God and people.
Through our prayer, the Word, profound reverence and respect for God, thousands and thousands of people will receive salvation and blessings from our Father.
