1 Kings 10:9 “Blessed is Jehovah your God, who delighted in you, to set you on the throne of Israel. Because Jehovah loved Israel forever; therefore, He made you king to do judgment and justice.”
Very often when God raises us we rejoice that we have been granted with His favor. Do we realize why it happens in our lives or do we take it all for granted and believe that we have deserved it? Therefore we start to make our own plans forgetting that exaltation comes to your life only through God’s good will.
Remember that all kind of exaltation and all kind of favor come from Him and have a certain purpose. If God decided to raise a person then obviously there are reasons for that. Let us see the second part of that verse again: “Because Jehovah loved Israel forever; therefore, He made you king”
Often the purpose that the Lord has for a human being has to do with the person himself and his ministry to people. Often people say: “I love God, I go to church and pray”, but still they do not do anything useful for people. If we really love God then it will affect our attitude towards people around us. That is why 1 Kings 10:9 says: “Because Jehovah loved Israel forever; therefore, He made you king”.
God wanted Solomon to know that He Had set him as a king first of all because of His great love for Israel. Therefore, as the king of Israel, Solomon should serve the people in the first place. It was for the sake of the people that God set Solomon on the throne. And the same way as one day it happened with Solomon God sets as on particular exalted places. We all should reign in order to have the ability to serve many people.
But it is not only for people that God exalts us, first of all, He does it for Himself – so that we could fulfill God’s will on the earth. I would like to point out that God’s will is always connected with people, that’s why in this scripture He goes on saying: “Because Jehovah loved Israel forever”; therefore, He made you king to do judgment and justice. To do judgment and justice is the main reason why God exalts any person.
God always exalts a person to establish the principles of His kingdom. For this very task He shows His mercy to us so that we would be able to manifest His character and His truth to the people around us. God made us for Himself. Therefore consider this, if He set us at a certain position or blessed us in any way, there are always plans that He wants us to fulfill on earth.
God doesn’t want us just to pray, fast and bring offerings. Yes, all this is important in the life of every believer, but if we do all this and still not establish His justice and spread His truth, then soon we are going to be frustrated and in the end, we are not going to be recognized by God and only hear words of conviction. Just think about it. God may not recognize a person and say that He doesn’t know us because we did not establish His justice on earth.
In the Gospel of Luke 11:42 the Lord says: “But woe to you, Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and every herb, and pass over judgment and the love of God. You ought to have done these, and not to leave the other undone.”
Woe to them. They did everything except for spreading God’s justice and truth. They neither knew nor realized that there duty had to do not only with serving God with prayer, fasting, tithes and offerings, but first of all they were supposed to show God’s heart on earth i.e. to show love and God’s justice to people. It was through them and their ministry that people had to feel, see and understand that God is the God of judgment and justice.
When we speak about establishing judgment we mean that there should be justice and protection for the weak and oppressed. Proverbs 31:8-9 confirms it: “Open your mouth for the dumb, for the cause of all the sons of those passing away. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.”
To bring justice means to protect people that need protection. To bring truth means not to be silent and raise your voice to proclaim the truth and God’s judgment. That is the reason for us to be where we are.
Remember Esther. If she did not overcome her fear and wouldn’t risk by speaking the truth then she wouldn’t have been able to keep her status as the queen and more over would not have been able to protect her people.
In the Gospel of Matthew 12:18 we see how God anointed and called Jesus: “Behold My Child whom I have chosen; My Beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased. I will put My Spirit on Him, and He shall declare judgment to the nations.”
See, the calling and exaltation from God are always connected to justice and truth. Even Jesus was called for the sake of the completion of justice and more over we as his followers should first of all seek to do justice. Even the anointing of Jesus came upon him for the sake of justice which means God gives His anointing for a goal. So we should not boast with it or misuse it, but show God’s character to people for them to feel that God is a just God who protects them and is interested in their destinies. Zechariah 8:16-17 “These are the things that you shall do. Each man speak the truth to his neighbor. Judge with truth and justice for peace in your gates. And let each devise no evil in your heart against his neighbor; and love no false oath. For all these are things that I hate, says Jehovah.”
Doing justice has to do with speaking up. They say that a person that stands against everyone always becomes a victim. We shouldn’t be afraid of that. If Josef didn’t risk and not go through humiliation in the prison he would not have become the Prime Minister of Egypt. It was because of the truth that he was put in prison but because of the humiliation he was raised up to that high position. Genesis 39:20: ”And Joseph’s master took him and put him in the prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were bound. And he was there in the prison.”
God guarantees us His protection and salvation when we stand on the side of judgment and justice. You can see that in the life of Daniel. As he did not want to change his righteous principles he was thrown into a lions den. We know how God saved him in a supernatural way. The more dangers, threats and oppression there are the more God will manifest His power. Daniel 6:22 “My God has sent His Angel, and has shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not hurt me, because before Him purity was found in me. And also before you, O king, I have done no harm.”
Golden truths:
- The main reason God exalts any person is to do justice and truth. We should reign in order to have an opportunity to serve many people.
- God always exalts a person to establish the principle of His kingdom. So it is through us that people should feel, see and understand that God is the God justice and truth.
- For the sake of people and their interests we reach any kind of exaltation.
- God trusts to us a certain sphere of influence to do judgment and bring the law.
- God guarantees us His protection when we stand on the side of truth and justice.
