“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes”. (Mathew 6:25)
We all have life but only some of us understand it. Unfortunately there are many stereotypes and lies about life. Today I want to share seven truths about life that the devil does not want you to know about.
1. The first truth – life was not given to us for pleasure alone. Being unaware of this truth people live under the principle that ‘I must take everything from life’. This is lie. In fact life was given to us not for pleasure alone. Let us look at King Solomon: he had everything and could enjoy it but he said that pleasure is vanity of vanities. Life is more than pleasure.
“I became greater by far than anyone in Jerusalem before me. In all this my wisdom stayed with me. I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my work, and this was the reward for all my labor. Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 2:9-11)
Each day must bring some fruits, something good and pleasure to God and people.
2. The second truth – we have no tomorrow. Many people live by hoping for tomorrow. But, in fact, there is no “tomorrow” because nobody can predict tomorrow.
We can plan our tomorrow but we cannot influence it because it depends on God. We can plan our future but God can take our life today. We should not hope for tomorrow: we have to live for today. We often think that we will do or achieve something in 5 or 10 years. But a man waiting for tomorrow and other circumstances is getting weaker. So, it is better for us to fight and overcome difficulties while we are young and full of strength. Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.
“As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work”. (John 9:4)
3. The third truth – life is a one-time chance. Sometimes we are given some good opportunities but we miss them and there is no way back and a chance to correct our mistakes.
“A voice says, “Cry out.” And I said, “What shall I cry?” “All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field. The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the LORD blows on them. Surely the people are grass. The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.” (Isaiah 40:6-8)
Be wise enough to value and take any opportunity life gives you.
4. The fourth truth – the essence of life is Christ but not our actions or businesses.
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”. (John 14:6)
If you want to enjoy life you need to speak and have close relations with life itself – that is Jesus Christ. In this case we will have life not only today but also for eternity. That is why the Bible calls us to seek the Kingdom of God and its truth. If we find the Kingdom of God we will find its King – Jesus Christ – and automatically, everything we need.
5. The fifth truth – we are all created to be dependent. We are dependent on our Creator and Source.
“Jesus answered, “It is written: ’Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God”. (Mathew 4:4)
“the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being”. (Genesis 2:7)
We are not the authors of our life. God is our author and master and He is the only One who gives us the purpose of life.
6. The sixth truth – sin leads to death.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”. (Romans 6:23)
Anytime we sin something dies inside of us – health, success or achievements. But the life God has given us is life with abundance. Sin is the only thing used by the devil to get access to our life and that is why sin seems so sweet and attractive. But we can reject any lie and lead righteous lives.
7. The seventh truth – our life does not belong to us. In fact our life was given to us for some period of time. That is why sooner or later we will have to report to God on how we have lived our lives.
“Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment”. (Hebrews 9:27)
We are accountable to God as it regards our lives. That is why we have to live today so that we will not be ashamed to stand before God and look into His eyes.
Golden truths:
- Life was not given to us for enjoyment alone. Life was given to bring something good to God and people.
- We have no tomorrow but only today.
- Life is a one-time chance. Be wise enough to take any opportunity life gives you and value it because there might be no the second chance.
- The essence of life is in Christ but not in our actions or businesses.
- We are all created to be dependent on our Creator and Source. The closer your relationship with the creator the more sense your life will make to you.
- Sin leads to death. Sin is the only thing used by the devil to get access to our life and that is why sin usually seems so sweet and attractive.
- Our life does not belong to us. It was given to us for some period of time and we will have to give report on it to God.
