The service was marked by wonderful worshipping and praising God.
Pastor Nadezhda Belonozhko started the preaching on the topic “Does God reign on the throne of your heart?” The topic for January is “God is our treasure”, that is why pastor reminded the church, why God must be the highest priority in our life.
Pastor addressed those who were present saying:” I would like us to pay attention to what place God occupies on the throne of our hearts”.
We should test ourselves, analyzing what place God occupies in our life.
“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me.” (Exodus20:2-3)
It is possible for us to know many things being well educated, know even the Word of God, have victories in the past given by God, but forget the living God moving Him to the background. It happens without being noticed! Pastor explained why God must become the highest priority in our life.
Analyzing Colossians 1:16-23 she demonstrated these reasons for those who were present.
“For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.
For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation– if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant”.
The pastor explained by this scripture that everything in this world is created by God and for Him including us. We are His creation as He created us for His sake. We came into this world to fulfill our mission and will return to God at the end!
We have to do everything possible so God can become our highest treasure. Today we all stand firm in power and spirit with the help of our God. We ought to remember always that our life depends on God.
“For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.”(Acts17:28)
God gives us the essentials: – spiritual breath and life! Without God we cannot wake up, breathe, walk, work, think, build etc.
The next reason for which God must become our highest treasure is that He is the head of the Church, He is the beginning of everything: our life, new beginnings, and He takes first place in everything.
The other reason is that there is completeness filling everything in our life only when we allow Him.
We must permit God to prevail in our life and value Him as the greatest treasure!
It is easy to lose God as a treasure and it becomes obvious if something else appears on the throne of our heart. In order not to lose God as the greatest treasure we need to have God always on our mind and heart, constantly thinking of Him.
God reconciled us to Himself through the blood of Jesus Christ. Even for this reason alone we ought to treasure Him.
That is why we have to analyze our life constantly! If a person neglects God as the biggest treasure he ignores himself and all his life!
The following home assignment was offered by pastor for those who desire to work on themselves:
- Write down sincerely what is most important in your life;
- Analyze what God is saying to you through this preaching;
- Think and write down all the steps that would help you to make God your A1 treasure in your life;
- Start eradicating from the throne of your heart everything that hinders God from becoming your highest priority;
Dear friends, let’s make God our highest priority in our life exalting Him on the pedestal of our heart.
